Sara and Grant's day began in Southold, where Sara got ready at her parents' house, before a car service brought the wedding party to The Vineyards at Aquebogue. Their first look happened among the vine rows in the late afternoon, with a few quiet minutes for portraits before guests arrived.

The ceremony was an evening one — 6:30 beneath the pergola as the light went down over the vineyard — followed by cocktail hour, a first dance on entering the reception, speeches, parent dances, and the cake cutting, all before ten. An evening ceremony suits this venue: the string lights and the last of the daylight do half the decorating.
