A surprise proposal inside a 1,750-acre Gold Coast estate park — wooded lanes, open meadows, and the Long Island Sound beyond the trees. Planned with you in secret, and captured the second it happens.
Some proposal spots give you one backdrop. Caumsett gives you a whole estate — and the privacy that comes with it.
A former Gold Coast estate. Caumsett was the Marshall Field estate, and it still feels like one: tree-lined lanes, rolling meadows, gardens, and historic estate buildings spread across 1,750 acres on the Lloyd Harbor peninsula, with the Sound at its edge.
Room to disappear. The park is big enough that finding a quiet lane or an empty stretch of meadow is easy — which means a photographer can be waiting nearby, completely unnoticed, while the two of you have the place to yourselves.
Beautiful in any weather. Sun through the canopy is gorgeous — but the proposal in the gallery below happened in the rain, umbrellas up, and it made the whole thing more memorable, not less. Caumsett’s tree cover means the weather rarely ruins a plan here.
Photographed at Caumsett State Historic Park — the knee in the rain, her reaction under the umbrella, and the two of them together after the yes. Nothing staged, nothing recreated.

Planning a Caumsett proposal?
Text Scott — (516) 606-1783A surprise proposal only happens once — so we plan it like a film shoot, down to the minute, and then I disappear until it’s over.
You text me the plan: the lane, the meadow, or the spot by the water, the timing, and the signal that tells me the question is coming. We pick exactly where you’ll stop — and where I’ll be waiting. Your partner suspects nothing.
I arrive early and settle in along the trail like any other park visitor. When the moment comes, I capture it as it happens — the knee, the reaction, the yes — then step in for a few portraits while it’s all still fresh.
Your edited gallery — ready to relive, share with family and friends, and post the announcement everyone’s been waiting for.
Good to know: Caumsett is a New York State Park, so there’s a vehicle entry fee in season and the park keeps daylight hours — when we plan your proposal, we’ll sort the timing, the meeting point, and the route together, so everything is handled before the day.

No. Scott stays completely discreet — waiting along the trail like any other park visitor — until after she says yes. Then, if you'd like, we can take a few celebratory portraits together.
Late afternoon, when the light comes through the trees — but overcast days are beautiful here too, with soft, even light under the canopy. The gallery on this page was photographed on a rainy day.
Then you get a story nobody else has. The couple in this gallery said yes in the rain — umbrellas up, laughing the whole time. We'll watch the forecast together as the day gets close and build the plan around the weather, umbrellas included.

Every proposal starts with a quiet conversation. Tell me what you’re dreaming up — the date, the cover story, where in the park — and I’ll help you build the plan. Everything stays between us until she says yes.
