Two ways to celebrate — which one is yours?

They sound similar, but they’re opposites — one is a secret mission for the partner about to ask, the other a planned session for a couple who already has. Pick your side:

Surprise Proposal Photography

The engagement ring in its box, held moments before a surprise proposal on Long Island

You’re planning to propose — and your partner has no idea. I’m your accomplice. Before the day, you and I plan the whole thing together, down to the details:

  • You text me the exact location, and we walk the plan through together
  • We set the timing, your signal, and exactly where I’ll be positioned
  • On the day, I’m in place early — hidden in plain sight, completely discreet
  • The moment happens, and I capture it as it unfolds: the knee, the reaction, the yes

Engagement Sessions

You’re already engaged — congratulations! An engagement session is a planned photo shoot for the two of you, built entirely around your story:

  • A location you choose together — a Montauk beach, a North Fork vineyard, a favorite estate
  • Relaxed, guided posing — no stiffness, no awkwardness, just the two of you
  • A full edited gallery celebrating the engagement
  • Perfect for announcements, save-the-dates, and your wedding website

How It Works — Proposals

You bring the ring. I’ll be hiding in plain sight.

A surprise proposal only happens once — so we plan it like a film shoot, down to the minute, and then I disappear until it’s over.

01

We plan it together — by text or call

You text me the exact location, and we lock in the timing, the signal that tells me the question is coming, and exactly where I’ll be positioned. Your partner suspects nothing.

02

I’m in place — discreet and ready

I arrive early and blend into the background. When the moment comes, I capture it as it happens — the knee, the reaction, the yes — then step in for a few joyful portraits while it’s all still fresh.

03

You get a beautiful edited gallery

Your edited gallery — ready to relive, share with family and friends, and post the announcement everyone’s been waiting for.

As a filmmaker, I can also capture the moment on video — ask about a proposal film when we plan.

Where I Shoot

Long Island’s most romantic backdrops

From the end of the Island to your favorite quiet beach, I know the light, the hiding spots, and the golden-hour timing.

Montauk

The lighthouse, the bluffs, and sunset over the water at the very end of Long Island.

The North Fork

Vineyards, farms, and quiet bayside beaches with room to breathe.

Long Island Beaches

Golden-hour sand and surf — the Island’s natural backdrop for a yes.

Vineyards & Estates

Vineyard rows, gardens, and grand estates across the East End and beyond.

About

A filmmaker’s eye for a once-in-a-lifetime minute

I’m Scott Goldberg, a Long Island filmmaker and photographer, and the eye behind North Fork Wedding Films. Proposals are my favorite thing to shoot — one unrepeatable minute, planned like a production and captured like a film. I’ll help you pick the spot, hide in plain sight, and hand you images that let you live that minute again for the rest of your lives.

Questions

Before you ask — the answers

Do you photograph surprise proposals?

Yes — surprise proposals are our specialty. The proposal is planned with the partner who is about to propose, and we capture the real moment as it happens.

How much does it cost?

Proposal photography is $650 flat. Engagement sessions are also $650.

How does the planning work for a surprise proposal?

You and Scott plan it beforehand by text or call — you share the exact location, and you set the timing and a signal together, so Scott is in position and ready before the moment happens.

Will my partner know a photographer is there?

No. Scott stays completely discreet — hidden in plain sight — until after she says yes. Then, if you’d like, we can take a few celebratory portraits together.

What’s the difference between proposal photography and an engagement session?

A proposal shoot captures the actual surprise moment when one partner proposes. An engagement session is a planned photo shoot for a couple who are already engaged, at a location you choose together.

What areas do you cover?

All of Long Island — Montauk, the North Fork, the Hamptons, and across Suffolk and Nassau County, including beaches, vineyards, and estates.

How do I book?

Plan Your Proposal

Let’s plan it in secret

Every proposal starts with a quiet conversation. Tell me what you’re dreaming up — the place, the date, the cover story — and I’ll help you build the plan. Everything stays between us until she says yes.

Already engaged and thinking about an engagement session instead? Same form — just tell me where you’d love to shoot.

Texting is best while you’re planning in secret — and if she’s nearby, just text “proposal” and I’ll know to keep it discreet. Rather talk? Call the same number.
