Surprise proposal in the snow at Camp Hero, Montauk — on one knee, the lighthouse behind them
Surprise Proposals · Camp Hero, Montauk — In Winter

A Winter Montauk Proposal

Montauk in December is a different place — empty trails, falling snow, and the lighthouse fading in and out of the weather. A surprise proposal at Camp Hero in the snow, planned with you in secret and captured the second it happens.

Camp Hero State Park · Montauk, Long Island

Why Winter Montauk?

Everyone proposes in Montauk in July. A winter proposal at Camp Hero gives you the same bluffs and the same lighthouse — with nobody else there.

The off-season quiet. Camp Hero in winter is nearly empty: snowy fields, quiet trails, and the bluffs above the Atlantic all to yourselves. No crowd to manage, no strangers in the frame — the privacy a surprise proposal wants, built into the season.

Snow changes everything. The session in the gallery below happened on December 21st, in falling snow — coats, scarves, red noses, and a knee dropped in a white field with the lighthouse behind. It looks like a film still because nobody else’s proposal looks like this.

An easy winter cover story. A drive out to see the lighthouse, a walk at Camp Hero, hot drinks in town after. Montauk in the off-season is a trip couples actually take — which makes it perfect cover.

How It Works

You bring the ring. I’ll be waiting in the snow.

A surprise proposal only happens once — so we plan it like a film shoot, down to the minute, and then I disappear until it’s over.

01

We plan it together — by text or call

You text me the plan: the field, the bluff, or the trail, the timing, and the signal that tells me the question is coming. We pick exactly where you’ll stop — and where I’ll be waiting. Your partner suspects nothing.

02

I’m in place — discreet and ready

I arrive early and settle in like any other winter walker. When the moment comes, I capture it as it happens — the knee in the snow, the reaction, the yes — then step in for a few portraits while it’s all still fresh.

03

You get a beautiful edited gallery

Your edited gallery — ready to relive, share with family and friends, and post the announcement everyone’s been waiting for.

Good to know: Camp Hero is a New York State Park and winter days are short — when we plan your proposal, we’ll build the timing around the light and the forecast together, so the snow works for the plan instead of against it.

Questions

Before you ask — the answers

How much does proposal photography in Montauk cost?

Surprise proposal photography is $650 flat — that covers planning the moment with you beforehand, discreet coverage as it happens, celebratory portraits after the yes, and a full edited gallery. Engagement sessions are also $650.

Will my partner know a photographer is there?

No. Scott stays completely discreet — positioned like any other winter visitor — until after she says yes. Then, if you'd like, we can take a few celebratory portraits together.

Is winter really a good time to propose in Montauk?

It's the most private time. Camp Hero and the lighthouse grounds are nearly empty, the light is soft all day, and if it snows, you get photos like the ones on this page. The couple in this gallery said yes on December 21st.

What if the weather turns bad?

Snow is the point — but a true storm changes plans. We'll watch the forecast together as the day gets close and adjust the timing or the spot if we need to.

What about parking and park hours in winter?

Camp Hero is a New York State Park; in winter the days are short and hours vary. When you book, you'll plan the timing and meeting point with Scott so everything is sorted before the day.
